At Glen Park Branch Library, 2825 Diamond Street, San Francisco, CA, 94131

Four California Native artists (three of them young adults) share traditional knowledge and creative expression to strengthen connections to their ancestral lands. They created a dance for a 2018 Indigenous People’s Day Sunrise Ceremony on Alcatraz, nearly 50 years after the Indians of All Tribes occupied the island. We’ll also show a short film with some of the same artists telling the folktale How Turtle Got the Cracks on His Back, danced among Mission District murals and natural landscapes of San Francisco/Yelamu. Stay for conversation afterwards. For ages 13 and older. TV-G, 57 mins., 2022. Closed captions (CC) in English.
