Walk with an Expert: Explore Lichen!
Lichens are unique organisms that can appear as crusty patches, leafy growths, or bushy forms that sometimes resemble mosses. The catch is, they aren’t plants! Lichens are actually a combination of algae and fungi. Join us for a walk on the Bell’s Learning Landscape with lichen expert Dr. Natalia Mossmann Koch. We will learn how to identify different types of lichen in the area and hear about her research on lichen as air quality monitors. Learning Landscape walks will remain on the flat, paved sidewalk just outside of the museum. Walks are capped at 20 participants. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, and closes the Wednesday before the event, or when we are at capacity.…
