Work in Progress: Elle Hong’s Potemkin Village
Join us for a special work in progress performance of dancer/choreographer Elle Hong’s new contemporary dance piece Potemkin Village followed by a Q&A with the artist. The performance will explore how we shape—and sometimes distort—what others see and how we see ourselves. Inspired by the legend of “Potemkin villages,” elaborate facades built to conceal uncomfortable truths, the piece reimagines the concept through the lenses of trans identity, relationships, and the shifting boundaries between reality and illusion. The dancers mirror one another, becoming reflections and miniature worlds of lived experience. Together, they create fleeting moments of beauty while moving through a landscape…
